Red and green should always be seen!!

November 17th, 2008 by Louise

Hi all, I just thought I would share with you what I have created over the weekend.  I was up way past my bedtime on Friday night as I didn’t get started in my craft room till fairly late and then I was having so much fun, I just kept going.   You know how sometimes things just work really well and I was on a bit of a roll so here are some of my creations for your viewing pleasure!

I just love the combination of Real Red and Old Olive and I guess as my first experience of ever making cards was for Christmas, I just love to get stuck into lots of different designs at Christmas time.  Stampin’ Up!’s Real Red cardstock is a beautiful true red colour so make sure you assess what you need for this year’s cards and give me a call if you need to order a pack.

This is a Pringles container wrapped in our designer papers and decorated.  I thought these would be a great Christmas gift for teachers or friends filled with Rocky Road or Shortbreads but I now realise these would take quite a bit to fill so I will have to start buying the small containers.  All those large packets I had to eat only to find this out now?!  Ahhh, the things we do for craft hey?

I have used the Dashing designer papers, stamped a piece of Real Red in the So Swirly wheel to go around the middle of the container and then added some Die Cuts from the Blooms set in the Spring Mini and punched out a section of the Crazy for Christmas present stamp and coloured it with my markers.  Don’t forget the markers are on sale separately this month only and are a fantastic buy at $4.95 each.  My red and green ones are getting quite the work out at the moment. I have covered the lid in a cirle of red cardstock and ran a piece of Real Red ribbon around the edge and finished off with a bow in the wide Old Olive ribbon.

Next up is a matchbox in Real Red stamped with the So Swirly wheel.  I thought these would be extra cute on the dinner table for each guest.  I had some chocolate coins on hand and they were the perfect size although I think a Bacci or the like would be yummy!

I have also made a placecard holder (in main pic) using a large black bulldog clip and just covered it with some Dashing paper and added a scallop punch and some ribbon and that was so quick and easy.

Now I’m not really one for punch art but I have to say but when I saw this Christmas tree I thought it was very cute.  It is so simple to make.

To make, just punch out one scallop and mark your centre.  Cut away 5 scallops, then 4, then 3, then 2 and layer them to make your tree.  I can’t take the credit for this idea as I found it on Paula Goff’s site.

Ok, so there you have it, my red and green creations.  Thanks for looking and I hope you have enjoyed seeing some of my goodies.  I’ll be back soon with some Holiday Harmony ideas.  Right now I’m off to bed to rid myself of the beginnings of a shocking cold.
