Blue bird

April 2nd, 2009 by Louise

Hi all.  I have taken part in my first Our Creative Corner challenge and this week it is a colour challenge.  The colours are More Mustard, Bashful Blue and Not Quite Navy.  Automatically I thought this would make a great masculine card but somehow that’s not really where I ended up.  I wanted to have go at using the bird in Good Friend and so I inked him in the Bashful Blue and then rock’n'rolled him in the Not Quite Navy, then added the legs and beak in NQN also.  I have also cut out his wing and used Dimensionals to raise it up.  It’s hard to see in this pic but I used the stamp pad directly onto the NQN base cardstock and then added the wide stitched ribbon and used my cutter kit to distress the edges of the layered cardstock. What do you think of him?

Stamp set:  Good Friend, Happy Thoughts
Cardstock:  Not Quite Navy, Bashful Blue, More Mustard, Whisper White
Inks:  Not Quite Navy, Bashful Blue, More Mustard
Accessories:  Scallop circle punch, 1 3/8″ circle punch, 1 1/4″ circle punch, Fire rhinestone brads, wide bashful blue stitched ribbon, cutter kit, markers

I certainly wouldn’t have put these colours together without this challenge, so it just goes to show to step out of your comfort zone is a good thing every once in a while!

Thanks for looking.

I never would have put this color combo together either without the challenge! But I liked it after I got them together! Your birdie is darling like all the details and the two tone inks! Thanks for playing along with the OCC!
