Bali Breeze gift set

January 20th, 2009 by Louise

I wanted to share with you this gift set I made for my girlfriend Sue ;-) for her 40th birthday during the holiday period.  We were in Walpole for her birthday so I missed the big bash and wanted to make something special for her.  As Sue is a stamper and a member of my Club I didn’t want to make a card set for her and was trying to think outside the square a bit.  Finally I remembered I had a clipboard, so set about altering it and came up with a few things to go with it.

As soon as I saw the Bali Breeze designer papers in the new Summer Mini catalogue I thought of Sue because she loves bright colours and in particular teal makes me think of her.  Once I had the clipboard covered, I made up a little coaster calendar which I found on Splitcoast Stampers.  I did put a magnetic strip on the back but also had a little stand which I had used for my card displays so she can decide what suits her best.

I also added a notebook which was an idea from Esther (hi!), another of Ngaire’s downline from our group stamp camp in December.

Finally I made a card to go with it all – the design was also one I saw on Splitcoast which I tweaked a bit and added the ’40′ using our old Tidy Numbers (my faves).

I thoroughly enjoyed making these and I have to admit Sue had to pry them from my hands when she left!  I have vowed to make another clipboard as soon as I can remember where I purchased the first one from!

The coaster calendars were so much fun to make and so simple that each of my girls at Club this month made one with their choice of Ginger Blossom or Bali Breeze papers and an assortment of Felt Fusion flowers and ribbons.  It was a great spur of the moment decision to make them and we had a blast! I wish I had taken some pics of the different papers and designs they made.  Next time hey?

Thanks for looking.

Hi Lou, WOW, a very beautiful gift set. Love it with the DP. I recently covered one of those clipboards as well, which I got from KingKong down this way.

Lou, this is absolutely gorgeous, you clever woman. I have these papers and just haven’t had time to get around to using them yet. So much for getting organised this year so I would have more time to craft.

    Well done, I’m very impressed.
